This biographical sketch is written to show honor and respect for the many years of service to the Masonic bodies, by Brother Joseph Robert Conway, Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky. Brother Joseph Robert Conway, Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, 1985-1986 was born in Franklin County, Kentucky on June 6, 1930. He is the oldest son born to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Morgan Conway. He was educated in Frankfort Elementary, Frankfort High School and Kentucky State University. Brother Conway is employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Traffic Engineer, specializing in Electronic Technology. Brother Conway married Peggy Lee Sutherland on the 23rd day of September 1950 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Peggy and Joe ^tre the proud parents of two daughters and one son; Vicke, Lonajean, and Joseph III. Brother Conway is a member of the Church of the Ascension (Episcopalian) in Frankfort, Kentucky and has served his church as President, Episcopal Churchman, Vestryman Senior Warden of Vestry, Deputy Diocesan Conv. Brother Conway began his Masonic activities when he was initiated an Entered Apprentice in January 1958, passed to a Fellow Craft in March 1958 and raised to a Master Mason in June 1958. He was initiated an Entered Apprentice in No. 205 West Orange, New Jersey, passed to Fellow Craft and raised to a Master Mason in Hiram Lodge No. 4 in Frankfort, Kentucky. Brother Joe presently holds dual membership of West Orange No. 205 and Hiram No. 4. Brother Joe received the ceremonies of the A.A.O.N.M.S. in June 1959, Oleika Temple in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to receiving the degrees and having membership in the above bodies, Brother Joe is a member of Hiram Chapter No. 93, Order of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron and still very active. He is also a member of the Past Master Societies of both Central and Northern Kentucky, Past President, Central Kentucky. Brother Joe has held many Masonic offices throughout his years of service. Brother Joe assisted in the organization of Thoroughbred Chapter, Order of DeMolay and served as Athletic and Membership Advisor for approximately five years. As the Masonic years 1985-1986 draw to a close, Most Worshipful Grand Master Joseph R. Conway feels sad, however on the other hand he is happy to know that the outstanding work of the Masonic Lodges will continue as the years go on.
