Charles Madison Jewell, third child and second son of Wilbert and Mary Jewell, was born in Spencer County, Kentucky, February 28, 1945. Charlie, as is he known to those of the Masonic Fraternity and his friends, was educated in the public school system of Spencer County, graduating in 1964 from Taylorsville High School. Charlie and the former Donetta Stump were married February 4, 1967, and presently reside in Taylorsville, Kentucky, He has been employed at General Electric Appliance Park, in Louisville, where he is a material controller, for twenty-nine years. He is a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Mt. Eden, Kentucky. Charles M. Jewell comes from a Masonic oriented family which has been very supportive of him and the Fraternity. His father, the late Brother Wilbert Jewell, was a long-time member of Mt. Eden Lodge No. 263, affiliating with Taylorsville Lodge No. 210 in 1967. Brothers Ronald and Wilbert are Past Masters of Mt. Eden Lodge at this time. Wife, Donetta, mother, Mary and sister, Donna are members of Taylorsville Chapter No. 366, O.E.S., father-inlaw, J. T. Stump is also a member of Taylorsville Lodge No. 210. MASONIC RECORD OF CHARLES MADISON JEWELL Symbolic Lodge He was initiated into Taylorsville Lodge No. 210, April 2,1968; passed to the degree of Fellow Craft, June 18, 1968 and raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason,October 12,1968. He served through the chairs and was elected Master to serve during 1976. Charlie is a member of the Society of Past Masters of Central Kentucky and the Society of Past Masters of Northern Kentucky. He served the Grand Lodge of Kentucky as District Deputy Grand Master of District 17 in 1977; Assistant Grand Tiler, 1980; Committee on Arrangements, 1981-1989; Grand Sword Bearer, 1981 and 1985; Grand Junior Warden 1990- 1991; Grand Senior Warden, 1991-1992; Deputy Grand Master 1992-1993; Grand Master, 1993-1994. Chapter: Iroquois Chapter No. 193, R.A.M., Louisville, Kentucky. He is currently serving as Excellent High Priest. Order of the Priesthood 1994. Council: Sword & Trowel Council No. I l l , R. S. It is reasonable to observe that Freemasonry has been of prime importance to Brother Charles M. Jewell for more than a quarter of a century. He has received the support and inspiration of his lovely wife, Donetta, his family, friends and a host of his Masonic Brethren. It is also reasonable to note that he has put forth his untiring effort and his earnest resolve during this year that he has served the Grand Lodge of Kentucky as Grand Master. Charlie, you have served well and are to be heartily congratulated.
